Make a Statement with Summer Whites and Other Neutrals

Summer Whites and Other Neutrals

As the weather gets warmer, it is time to pull out those beautiful summer whites and sensational neutrals.
This Sunday was just the right time to look cool and comfy in some dazzling white. I decided to spice up my white skirt with a beige blouse and a beige and gold hat. I also added some multi-colored bangle bracelets and a pair of clear, jellybean shoes.
Some Sunday Evening Chillin'

I added a little drama to my Sunday look, but you don't have to. You can look smashing in a beautiful white blouse and some too cute black and white pants like Sister Alisha. Alisha is wearing a light and breezy white blouse and a pair of palazzo pants. She added a pop of color with a bright red purse. She added some open-toe shoes that give this look just the right touch of class and comfort. I love, love this look for weekends or a day at school or even the office! You Go, Alisha.

Saying Good-Bye to Winter!

It is no secret that I hate winter. I don’t like being cold. I don’t like having to bundle up in piles and piles of clothes. So, as Spring approaches, I want to share a few transitional clothes with you.

I love a great leather jacket. This one is from G.I.L.I. It is moto style, and to be honest, I was a little hesitant about getting it. However, I love, love, love it. It is also a great way to transition from the cold winter months to those cool spring days. It feels like butta and the ivory color goes with anything. It is also on more of a dressy style. I can dress this jacket up or dress it down. Love it!

Hello Kitty! Okay, I know I am grown, but I still love Hello Kitty fashions. This little weight sweater is great for the transition to spring. I added a striped t-shirt underneath to give the sweater more length and add an interesting color mix.

Here, I'm getting ready to head out the door for church. The sweater is animal print. Animal print is great in any season. This eye-catching print has now become a classic. I am wearing a pleated, ivory skirt. I added the belt to give my waist some definition. I am also wearing medium-heel sandals. It was not very cold this day, but it was cool enough for the sweater.

Yeah! Spring is almost here. Transition in style.

Classic Fall Fashions

Fall Classic Fashions

The weather is getting cooler. The leaves are changing colors, and there is no doubt that fall has finally arrived.  It’s time to pack away those summer fashions and leap into autumn with the stylish, classic fashions listed below.

*Turtle necks

The turtle neck, which can trace its origin back to the first of the century, is a practical fall classic for both men and women. They can be worn as a shirt, a thin sweater, or even as a mock neck. Turtle neck sweaters are warm and stylish. Both the turtle neck sweater and the turtle neck shirt help to cover the neck and move focus to the wearer’s face. Just be sure when choosing your turtle neck that you choose material that is touchable and not itchy.

*Leather

It’s not quite cold enough to pull out the thick, winter coat just yet.  So, grab a beautiful leather jacket instead. Leather is a classic fashion, and it is not just confined to jackets for the fall season.  Leather can be worn as dresses, skirts, pants, and boots. It can also become a gorgeous fashion accessory when made into a handbag or clutch. Leather is a warm, and it can be worn from fall all the way through early spring.

*Plaid

Plaids are synonymous with fall and winter weather.  The patterned cloth called tartan is the national fabric of Scotland. However, it is not just material for the Scottish. Plain is worn around the world, and it has become a fall classic.  Plaid comes in 4 distinct types, and it makes the wearer stand out. Whether it is a plaid shirt, skirt, shorts, pants or even shoes, matching it correctly is the key.  It is best to pair plaids with solid fall colors, but don’t be afraid to experiment.

*Suede

Another great fall fashion is suede.  Suede, like leather, comes from the skin of animals. It is mainly worn as jackets, vests, handbags, shoes, and boots. The material is soft, comfortable, and classy. Suede comes in different colors and can be mixed with other fall fashions. Just remember that suede is very delicate and should be kept away from water and heat.

*Wool skirts or slacks

Wool skirts and slacks begin to make their appearances in the fall.  Wool is lightweight and versatile.  It is resistant to dirt and doesn’t wrinkle easily which makes it a fashion plus. Wool slacks are especially cute with other fall fashions like a turtleneck sweater or long, sleeve white blouse.

*Long, sleeve white shirt

A white shirt is always a winner.  It is a classic staple of any wardrobe.  So, don’t forget yours this fall season.  Opt for the long, sleeve version over the short sleeve, and you are all set for autumn weather.

*Tall boots

A pair of tall boots is a fall fashion must.  They go with anything, and they can help you transition some of your summer fashions into the fall season.  They can be worn with miniskirts and tights or with knee-length trousers.  For a bold look, you can wear this fall classic with a pair of plaid shorts.

Autumn is a time of change and transition.  The weather is changing and so should your wardrobe. Pack those hot weather fashions away and slip into the fall classics listed above.

How to Transition Summer Fashions into Fall Wear

My mom is wearing a white summer skirt. This skirt can be worn in the fall with a longer sleeve top or with a jacket. The old rule about not wearing white after Labor Day has been thrown out, so continue to sport those beautiful summer whites.

Do you think its too early to talk fall fashion? Think again. Summer maybe in full swing, but these beautiful summer days are already winding down. But, don't worry. There are ways that you can still wear those cute summer styles into fall without having to worry about the cooler weather.

*Mini skirts and summer skirts

Along with summer come the miniskirts.  These short, short summer skirts and summer skirts can transition into fall. All you have to do is simply add tights or leggings underneath.  You can even throw on a pair of ankle length booties or knee length boots to give them some added fall flair.

*Shorts

Shorts are another great summer feature. Just because summer is over it doesn’t mean that it is the end of shorts.  Shorts can be worn all year round.  To take those summer shorts into fall, you have several options.  These options, of course, depend on the type of shorts that you are planning on wearing.  For a more casual look, add a sweatshirt on top or a long sleeve tee shirt and your tennis shoes. Khaki shorts and those that are tailored can be transformed into a more refined look. Add tights and a nice blouse or a blazer to those tailored shorts and create a formal look. You can also add a pair of loafers or heels and some accent jewelry to complete the look.

*Capri pants or ankle length pants

You can still wear those Capri pants and ankle length pants into the fall.  You don’t have to add tights, but they are an option.  Put on a pair of suede booties, some oxfords, or a pair of knee length boots.  This will transform Capri pants from summer to fall.

*Tank tops

Tank tops can be covered by sheer blouses or blazers to help them move into the fall season. You can even opt to wear them with shrugs sweaters or cardigans.

*Maxi dresses or sheaths

Those maxi dresses and sheaths can be worn during the cooler months.  Wear light weight, sheer, long-sleeve undershirts beneath these dresses to create sleeves and a touch of class and intrigue for the fall. You can also wear these with blazers, cardigans, and sweater capes.

*Sleeveless blouses

Sleeveless blouses can also benefit from sheer long sleeve undershirts, shrugs, and cardigans.  You can also wear these blouses underneath a blazer to give them added style.

Summer is almost over, but it doesn’t mean you have to put away all of your summer fashions when the wear changes. By adding cardigans, shrugs, and long, sleeve undershirts to sleeveless shirts, blouses, and dresses, you can continue to wear those summer shirts into the fall. Tights and leggings can help shorts make the transition from summer to fall.  No matter what your style, you continue to wear many of your summer fashions despite the cooler weather.

Favorite Summer Colors pt.1

Summer is in full swing, and it is alive with beautiful vibrant colors. There are so many that picking a favorite could be hard work. Not so! Here are my summer color picks and combo.

(Excuse the crop, but my friend did not want her picture shown)
Royal blue is fantastic for summer. It is vibrant and attention getting. Plus, it transitions well into fall.

One of my main color picks for summer is mint green. This pastel goes well with several different colors: sand, coral, brown, lemon yellow, purple, creamy white, pink, and red~if you dare.

Here my mom is wearing black and white chevron print. I love chevron print. It can help to create a slimming effect.

This isn't quite a chevron print. However, I love the stripes. I added the yellow flower to make this outfit pop.

Summer Hats and Caps

Another great part of summer is the hats and caps. I love to wear hats all year long, but they just seem to look better~to me~in the summertime. I don’t care if they are for Sunday mornings or days at the park. I love ‘em. Here are a few.

Here is a cool turquoise blue hat. It keeps the sun off of you and looks comfortable and cute.

This is the hat that I wore for Easter. I loved the bow and pearls. (Hat above)
This is another Sunday hat. It is lacey and also has a cute bow. I love bows on hats as you can tell.
Here's Ms. Green on Western Day. I happen to love cowboy hats and cowboy boots. This look is great for summer, spring, or fall.

Summer Fresh Styles

Summer is in full swing and with it some great warm weather fashions have emerged.
White On!!!

Who can celebrate summer without that great summer white. Here is Ms. Alisha in a dynamite white outfit. This is great for a day of worship, a dinner date, a day with the girlfriends, a wedding, or any other special occasion.
Miss Alisha

White skirts and blouses are also a summer fav. Add a pop of color to a white skirt like Miss Margaret (Mom) for eye catching results. For white blouses, opt for a colorful shell and some noticeable jewelry.

Going Bold
Summer is also great with a few other colors. I like to mix pastels during the spring and summer. I also like to add some bold color to an outfit. Here is Miss Love rocking the new summer neutral brown and a fiery red blouse.

This is me mixing it up with one of my favorite colors, yellow, and turquoise.

Prints, Prints, Prints
Bright prints are also kicking this summer. I love this print, but I didn’t want to wear the top without  any sleeve. So, I added a top underneath, a statement necklace from Avon, and matching shoes from Dr. Scholl’s.
Great chevron print

Here is my mother in a gorgeous bright blue and lime green printed dress. She added a lime green shrug to complete the look.

Here I decided to wear a bold print dress. I transformed it from a simple outfit by adding the bright yellow shirt underneath and adding the statement necklace and earrings ( both the earring and the   necklace are from Avon). Brown, open-toe, high heel sandals complete this look.
 Color on Top of Color

Crop pants
Summer is fun. I also love cropped pants. Here are some in black and white. I wore them with a black tank top and a light pink wrapped sweater by the Renee collection. This sweater is very thin and breezy. That makes it perfect for those of us who work in cold buildings during the summer.

And, who doesn't own a pair of white crop pants? Add a splash of color to these, and you are summer ready.
