How to Transition Summer Fashions into Fall Wear

My mom is wearing a white summer skirt. This skirt can be worn in the fall with a longer sleeve top or with a jacket. The old rule about not wearing white after Labor Day has been thrown out, so continue to sport those beautiful summer whites.

Do you think its too early to talk fall fashion? Think again. Summer maybe in full swing, but these beautiful summer days are already winding down. But, don't worry. There are ways that you can still wear those cute summer styles into fall without having to worry about the cooler weather.

*Mini skirts and summer skirts

Along with summer come the miniskirts.  These short, short summer skirts and summer skirts can transition into fall. All you have to do is simply add tights or leggings underneath.  You can even throw on a pair of ankle length booties or knee length boots to give them some added fall flair.

*Shorts

Shorts are another great summer feature. Just because summer is over it doesn’t mean that it is the end of shorts.  Shorts can be worn all year round.  To take those summer shorts into fall, you have several options.  These options, of course, depend on the type of shorts that you are planning on wearing.  For a more casual look, add a sweatshirt on top or a long sleeve tee shirt and your tennis shoes. Khaki shorts and those that are tailored can be transformed into a more refined look. Add tights and a nice blouse or a blazer to those tailored shorts and create a formal look. You can also add a pair of loafers or heels and some accent jewelry to complete the look.

*Capri pants or ankle length pants

You can still wear those Capri pants and ankle length pants into the fall.  You don’t have to add tights, but they are an option.  Put on a pair of suede booties, some oxfords, or a pair of knee length boots.  This will transform Capri pants from summer to fall.

*Tank tops

Tank tops can be covered by sheer blouses or blazers to help them move into the fall season. You can even opt to wear them with shrugs sweaters or cardigans.

*Maxi dresses or sheaths

Those maxi dresses and sheaths can be worn during the cooler months.  Wear light weight, sheer, long-sleeve undershirts beneath these dresses to create sleeves and a touch of class and intrigue for the fall. You can also wear these with blazers, cardigans, and sweater capes.

*Sleeveless blouses

Sleeveless blouses can also benefit from sheer long sleeve undershirts, shrugs, and cardigans.  You can also wear these blouses underneath a blazer to give them added style.

Summer is almost over, but it doesn’t mean you have to put away all of your summer fashions when the wear changes. By adding cardigans, shrugs, and long, sleeve undershirts to sleeveless shirts, blouses, and dresses, you can continue to wear those summer shirts into the fall. Tights and leggings can help shorts make the transition from summer to fall.  No matter what your style, you continue to wear many of your summer fashions despite the cooler weather.

Favorite Summer Colors pt.1

Summer is in full swing, and it is alive with beautiful vibrant colors. There are so many that picking a favorite could be hard work. Not so! Here are my summer color picks and combo.

(Excuse the crop, but my friend did not want her picture shown)
Royal blue is fantastic for summer. It is vibrant and attention getting. Plus, it transitions well into fall.

One of my main color picks for summer is mint green. This pastel goes well with several different colors: sand, coral, brown, lemon yellow, purple, creamy white, pink, and red~if you dare.

Here my mom is wearing black and white chevron print. I love chevron print. It can help to create a slimming effect.

This isn't quite a chevron print. However, I love the stripes. I added the yellow flower to make this outfit pop.

Summer Hats and Caps

Another great part of summer is the hats and caps. I love to wear hats all year long, but they just seem to look better~to me~in the summertime. I don’t care if they are for Sunday mornings or days at the park. I love ‘em. Here are a few.

Here is a cool turquoise blue hat. It keeps the sun off of you and looks comfortable and cute.

This is the hat that I wore for Easter. I loved the bow and pearls. (Hat above)
This is another Sunday hat. It is lacey and also has a cute bow. I love bows on hats as you can tell.
Here's Ms. Green on Western Day. I happen to love cowboy hats and cowboy boots. This look is great for summer, spring, or fall.

Summer Fresh Styles

Summer is in full swing and with it some great warm weather fashions have emerged.
White On!!!

Who can celebrate summer without that great summer white. Here is Ms. Alisha in a dynamite white outfit. This is great for a day of worship, a dinner date, a day with the girlfriends, a wedding, or any other special occasion.

White skirts and blouses are also a summer fav. Add a pop of color to a white skirt like Miss Margaret (Mom) for eye catching results. For white blouses, opt for a colorful shell and some noticeable jewelry.

Going Bold
Summer is also great with a few other colors. I like to mix pastels during the spring and summer. I also like to add some bold color to an outfit. Here is Miss Love rocking the new summer neutral brown and a fiery red blouse.

This is me mixing it up with one of my favorite colors, yellow, and turquoise.

Prints, Prints, Prints
Bright prints are also kicking this summer. I love this print, but I didn’t want to wear the top without  any sleeve. So, I added a top underneath, a statement necklace from Avon, and matching shoes from Dr. Scholl’s.
Great chevron print

Here is my mother in a gorgeous bright blue and lime green printed dress. She added a lime green shrug to complete the look.

Here I decided to wear a bold print dress. I transformed it from a simple outfit by adding the bright yellow shirt underneath and adding the statement necklace and earrings ( both the earring and the   necklace are from Avon). Brown, open-toe, high heel sandals complete this look.

Crop pants
Summer is fun. I also love cropped pants. Here are some in black and white. I wore them with a black tank top and a light pink wrapped sweater by the Renee collection. This sweater is very thin and breezy. That makes it perfect for those of us who work in cold buildings during the summer.

And, who doesn't own a pair of white crop pants? Add a splash of color to these, and you are summer ready.
