How to Transform an Outfit for Spring or Summer

This spring and summer don’t spend a fortune to stay in style. You can transform those older outfits using some of the following fun items.

Statement necklaces

A great statement necklace can take an outfit from blah to fab. You can use them to dress up a plain tee and jeans or slacks and a blouse. You can use them to change a simple sheath dress into a show stopping piece.

Statement ring

You can have tons of fun with statement rings. I love these. You can spend a lot or a little on a statement ring. Just have fun. I like to purchase statement rings from Avon, QVC, and JCPenney.

Scarves

Scarves were “in” when I was a child. Guess what? They are back in style. You also use scarves to change the look of any outfit. You can wear them with tops, blouses, dresses, or even vests.

Vests

Vests are also trending. You can add them to almost anything. They can be worn in denim, leather, cotton, and chiffon-just to name a few. They can go from classy to casual. It is all up to you.

Pins and Brooches

Add pins or brooches to an outfit can also add some pizazz to an ordinary outfit. They take a simple dress or shirt and give it a classy look.

If you don’t have a lot of money this spring and summer. Don’t worry. You can still be a fashion diva. Just add some accessories.

Animal Prints: Going Wild Southern Style

Animal Print has earned a lasting place on the classic style list. They are attention-getting and fun. Whether you go all out "wild" or play it a little tame, they are great. Here are some ways to wear the print and to decorate your home with it.
This is me in my snake skin leather jacket and purse. Love it!

I caught one of my church members sporting this great animal print top at service with a pair of jeans.

Here I am in my Isaac Mizrahi giraffe print knit jacket.

Tiger print is fun. I paired this top with a black camisole, denim jeans, brown scandals, and a seashell necklace.
I guess you could say we have been "goin' wild" at church. Here is Keisha showing off her tiger print.

Decorations

Zebra print is one of my favorites. So, I did my bathroom in it.

Jacket Reviews

Dennis Basso Faux Leather Jacket

I recently purchased a jacket by Dennis Basso. It is a beautiful mint green color, and needless to say, I love it. It is so soft to the touch that I try to find excuses to wear it. It has cutout designs on the pockets and on the bottom in the back-which gets a lot of attention. It has a zip front and actual pockets. It is faux leather, but that shouldn’t stop you from making this great purchase. It is great for springtime because it is not too heavy, but it does help to fight off the chill of spring mornings. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, I would give it a 5.

Reba Leather Jacket

Okay, if you know me, you know I love to save money. I got this great jacket on sale! It was originally over $400.00, but I got a great deal. This leather jacket is gorgeous. It has these beautiful, romantic designs on the front and studs lining it. The leather is really soft. It isn’t as soft as my Dennis Basso jacket, but it is still soft. This jacket is light weight, and it too gets a lot of attention from leather coat lovers. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, I would give it a 4.8. The only reason I didn’t give this jacket a 5 was because it doesn’t have a zipper.

Rachel Zoe Faux Python and Faux Fur Jacket

I bought this jacket in black, but I really wanted the creamy color. However, it wasn’t in my size. I love the look of this jacket. It looks wet and racy. And, trust me; it draws a lot of attention. It has the look of python, and this is what I like the most about this jacket. The collar is made with faux fur, but that is okay with me. It is light weight, but warm. Although it looks thicker than it actually is, I did grab it on a cool spring morning. It worked great to keep me warm and was light-weight enough not to be too hot. Even though I have worn this jacket this spring, I think it would go better with fall weather because it looks hot. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, I would give it a 4. I give it a 4 because it looks a little too glossy. This makes it hard to wear it casually.

Isaac Mizrahi Giraffe Print Jacket

First, let me say that I love Isaac Mizrahi’s clothes. This is a great jacket. I love that it is giraffe print because I love all animal print things. It is a double-breasted knit jacket. It is black and white, and it is knit. The knit makes it super comfortable and warm. It has a mock neckline. I do love this jacket, but I bought it in a large. I could have gone down a size. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, I would give it a 4. The reason I give it a 4 because of the loose fit.

Isaac Mizrahi Quilted Button Front Jacket
My next jacket by Isaac is a quilted button knit jacket. I bought it in sunburst yellow. It is 75% cotton and 25% polyester. It fits great, and it is such a great spring color. It pops with color and is super comfortable. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, I would give it a 5.

Black and White: Wearing the Basics This Spring and Summer

When you think of springtime and summer, if you are like me, you think of those beautiful pastels and bright bold colors. Trust me, black, white and gray don’t come to mind. However, things have changed. No longer are they saved for the gloomy days of winter, but for the last few seasons, black and white have taken center stage. Here is a look at some great ways to wear black and white this summer.

Make those neutrals pop by adding a splash of color. I added a brilliant red blouse and red jewelry to a strapless black, white, and gray sundress. The goddess earrings are from Avon and the comfortable and stylish shoes are from Sketchers.
Fashionsista, Margaret, is sporting a black and white stripped skirt with a white camisole. She added a black shirt with black and silver jewelry. She is also wearing black sandals. It was smart to choose stripes that were pointing down to give a slimming effect.
Keisha is wearing a black and white dress with a cool leather jacket. This is great for those cool spring days.

Here I am in one of my favorite jackets. This is a giraffe print jacket from Isaac Mizrahi. I love Isaac! He knows how to design colors that are pretty and comfortable all at the same time. I can wear this black and white jacket with either a black or a white top. I can also add some more colors to it like red, yellow, mint, peach, etc. I added a black flair skirt and my famous scandals from Sketchers.

Southern Summer Foot Color

Southern Summer Foot Work

Warm weather brings out those beautiful spring and summer toes. I love looking at the vibrant colors and designs. Here are a few quick looks at some summer toes.

Pastels rule the springtime. These toes are painted a caribbean blue. These toes are peeling out of a pair of gray sandals.
These give us a snick peek at one of the trends for the past few seasons. They are painted two different colors. The big toe is painted hot pink while the other toes are painted robin's egg blue. The beautiful black black sandals with a slight heel are by Sketchers.

These toes are also painted hot pink. They are adorned with a pair of pink camo flip flops by Maui Island and Pink Lemonade Linen Pants from Chadwicks of Boston.

How to Make a Fashion Statement in Denim, Plaid, and Cowboy Boots

How to Rock Southern Style
The South is known for plaids, denim, and cowboy boots. Okay, this doesn’t sound too fashionable, but don’t be fooled. We may wear plaids. We may wear denim, and we may wear cowboy boots. But, we wear it all well. There is a look at some of the ways we rock cowboy boots, denim, and even plaid.

This is Kristy Rocking her denim outfit. She has on the denim jacket with denim jeans. She added a beautiful sand colored purse, a light brown belt, and dark stone boots. She flaunted this style for a casual Sunday at church.
Alisha paired her denim with a navy cardigan and a pretty peach colored camisole.

Here I am in the famous Southern plaid. I paired my red and white plaid top with a red camisole, dark blue denim jeans, and a brown leather belt. I also donned a pair of gold earrings and a seashell necklace.
Okay, boot time. I love cowboy boots. I wore my turquoise and brown boots with a Kim Kardashian skirt, a cream colored sweater, and one of my favorite leather jackets by Reba.
